Robert James Richmond holds an LLB (Honours) from the University of London and is a Barrister-at-Law called to the Bar of England and Wales at Middle Temple, Inns of Court, London. He is licensed to appear before the Primary Courts and the Court of Appeal in Oman.

Robert brings over 40 years of experience advising at the highest levels of the Omani government and commercial sector. He began his career in September 1978 as a Senior Legal Adviser in the Ministry of Royal Diwan Affairs, subsequently serving in the Cabinet of the Deputy Prime Minister for Legal Affairs and as Principal Legal Adviser in the Ministry of Legal Affairs. In those roles, he was involved in the drafting of sector laws, power purchase agreements and water purchase agreements.

From 2016 to 2018, Robert was seconded from the Ministry of Legal Affairs to Oman Airports Management Company SAOC, where he assisted in establishing the in-house legal department, formulating standard contracts and legal procedures, and advising on all aspects of the company’s corporate legal work. He subsequently advised Myah Gulf Oman Desalination Company SAOC on EPC and WPA matters and associated dealings with government authorities, and provided legal services to Oman Aviation SAOC and SalamAir SAOC, including support in establishing their respective in-house legal functions.

Robert advises K&Co.’s clients on government, hospitality, real estate and commercial matters, drawing on his long-standing knowledge of the Omani legal and regulatory environment.
